I have a 99 Lincoln Towncar Signature Automatic with 140K
I want to redo the carpeting and replace the old tuner with a more modern radio but I live the functionality of the 6 CD disc Changer in the trunk and I really like the asthetic of the old cellphone build into the car and I don't want to mess those things up.
How expensive would it be to replace the old dirty grey carpeting with a purple colored carpet and would it be something an amateur could do by themselves. And would replacing the radio tuner for a modern console mess up any of the electronics? Could I do that myself or should I pay someone to do it for me?
Well it rugs you just on bolt the seeds take them out, put rugs and that's no big deal. But if you like the CD player and all that stuff I would basically pay it pro to change any the tuner or something out in the system because it may be old but they were rather sophisticated even in 99. If it's got one of those multi CD players and you want to keep that I'd advise having a pro mess with the system.
Agreed. My recommendation is a single DIN Sony headunit. It’s a bit more expensive but they’re the best IMO. 5 RCA inputs in case you decide to upgrade the system and lots of controls. Plus a nice handy remote.
