Questions about car settings on factory stereo

Topic starter

I've had a vehicle already where the factory stereo had a number of the user settings for the vehicle only accessible through the factory stereo (this was a 2018 Mitsubishi eclipse cross.) I'm shopping for another vehicle now, but I seem to be seeing now that most vehicles have this same setup. In the case of my Mitsubishi, I really wanted to replace the stereo, but felt that my hands were tied, due to being locked out if I did so. I'm planning on purchasing a Mazda cx-5 at this point, and if I do decide to swap out the stereo I'd like to find a way to keep from losing the ability to modify settings afterward.

I'm aware of software like Carly, but it doesn't work for Mazda (nor does any other I've found) so I'm wondering, what other software is out there, and how would I find/learn how to use it? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Well I don't really mess much with stereo systems. But I've had customers who have purchased after market systems that have software that meshes with the cars. I seen them do it with Acuras. I don't know how much the aftermarket covers all different types of cars but you might research that
