I have a 2007 Camry SE with an automatic transmission with 90,000 miles and the original owner. At about 80,000 miles I noticed that the accelerator pedal was becoming more sensitive. What I mean is that when starting from a stopped position, I would lightly step on the accelerator and the engine would rev up like I was stepping on the pedal harder. It seems like it's too sensitive and your head goes back when you step on it lightly. Is there an adjustment for the accelerator or do I need a need part?
Thank you in advance.
@raymerc
Is your accelerator pedal control smooth at other times? Does RPM fluctuate when driving? Can you accelerate smoothly and slowly? Might be the accelerator pedal sensor.
This only occurs from a stopped position. Once I'm moving above 10 mph, stepping on the pedal is less noticeable. It seems that the RPMs from 800 to 1200 are the hardest to control. When stepping on the pedal from idle, it jumps from 800 to 1200 without going to anywhere in between. The RPMs never fluctuate other times or when idling. Is a pedal sensor expensive and can I install myself?
Said but you the transmission is starting to wear internally just baby it rebuilding that transmission is a multi thousand dollar job
Scotty is right. Even if you did change the pedal position sensor it likely won't fix your issue.
