Hi all!
I have been trying to figure out why my ac is blowing warm on my 08 dodge caliber 135k miles no check engine.
Everything was fine until it just suddenly stopped blowing cold air.
What I have checked so far;
-Freon level, fuses, relays, blender door actuators, no visible leaks,fan works( engages when engine temp is at mid line).
Not sure how to test the ac compressor but wouldn't the pulley or belt not spin if this were to be the culprit? What would be the signs of a faulty ac compressor? Wouldn't want to go out and buy one then have it be some other issue.
Any other tips are appreciated
Those AC systems are very complex and computer-controlled. In many cases this makes repair infeasible for the owner. A professional-grade bidirectional scan tool is frequently needed for diagnosis in addition to the usual HVAC tools. There are many things that can cause lack of cooling besides a faulty compressor.
How did you check the refrigerant level? Is your compressor making any bad noises or causing excessive vibration? What are your high and low system pressures when the compressor is running? It appears that your AC compressor does not have a conventional electromagnetic clutch, at least going by the photos in the rockauto.com database. If that is indeed the case the compressor runs continuously, regulated by a control valve.
