AC not cold enough

My 2011 Chevy Aveo AC was not blowing cold enough during this summer. Went to the mechanic and they said compressor is not working correctly. Replaced it and its still not cooling enough. I went back and they said that the best this car can do its engine size is, with 97F out side temp, to bring the temperature at the vents at 55F.

Also for some reason the Idle is also fluctuating up and down around 800 - 1100 rpm while idling and only when the AC is on. I personally am not happy with the air. Am I asking too much or is that normal for the car? Even on the highway its not cold enough! My Chrysler Sebring 2005 and Buick LeSabre 2005 both had the AC system changed and after 5 years still blow freezing cold and their vent temperature on Idle is 45F.

The car is good and do not want to sell it but the AC is just disappointing and feel ripped off!!

They are probably right. Many small engined modern cars are not designed for triple digit heat areas. They just don't cool well enough.

My Mom bought a brand new Beetle a while back and it had the same problem. The dealer told her it wasn't designed to work in our humidity/heat in Houston. Really stinks.

There should be a factory performance specification for the air conditioning. For example the shop manual for my old Jeep Cherokee states that at 100 degrees ambient temperature the AC should be at 48-55 degrees.
