Adding cruise control from another Ford escort?

I have a 99 Ford escort 5 speed. No cruise control from factory. Aftermarket kits are very expensive! Is it possible to go to wrecking yard and find another escort with cruise control and take the whole system off and make it work with mine? Has anybody done this? If so what parts do I need off donor car?

I'm not sure about the 1999 Ford Escort, but my 1999 Ford Ranger came pre-wired for cruise control. Look up how to tell if your vehicle was at all pre-wired for cruise control. My truck has the 10-pin connector for the module, which is a sign it is pre-wired. I attempted to add the remaining components myself from junkyard trucks that had it, but did not complete the installation, as my truck is missing a major wire from the brake master cylinder that runs via the main wiring harness to the control module. It's a pressure switch that disengages the cruise control when you touch the brake pedal. I did not feel comfortable messing with installing a wire in a 20 pin connector, nor did I feel like disassembling half of the wiring in my truck and the donor truck to swap out the entire harness, so I abandoned the idea.
