My great aunt left me a 2003 Mercedes C320 4matic (AWD?) wagon with 88k miles (was 56k in 2018, but my father has been using it for the past couple of years). I have the choice to either keep that, or the 2003 Toyota Sequoia SR5 (RWD) I’ve been driving which now has 177k (I’ve added 6k in the past three years). They’re both from California and I now live in Connecticut
I’ve had our mechanic look at it and the brakes and rotors were just replaced as well as a few sensors. There are a couple of wires that were eaten by mice since it was garage kept it’s entire life and she hadn’t driven it for a while (she passed away at 100 in spring). he had said a fender area still needs to be cleaned out.
I really like that car, but is it worth my time or money? I don’t mind learning to work on the car myself, as I’ve done with a couple of things on the sequoia.
Sell the Mercedes and keep the money as a maintenance fund for the Toy.
Keep driving your Sequoia as your daily.
If you like the Merc, keep it as a weekend toy. Don’t spend a fortune on it, though. If it’s already turned into a moneypit, sell it before it bankrupts you.
All the best!
If you can afford to keep both, keep both. The Mercedes sounds like fun to drive.
The Mercedes should only be kept as a weekend toy. For daily use the Sequoia is the way to go.
Thank you for all your answers, it looks like I’ll be keeping the sequoia. You’ve all helped me make the decision and come to terms with it.
