Hey Scotty/forum! First time here and I would love to get some opinions and advice on a new vehicle purchase I am looking into. I currently own a 2015 Ford fusion with a 2.0L turbo engine 6 speed automatic transmission with 71k miles and am looking to upgrade to a new Toyota avalon hybrid. I am looking to upgrade to Toyota for their known longevity and the mpg of the hybrid. I want to buy the car to keep, and for it to last a very long time(15+ years). What is your opinion and suggestions regarding the upgrade? Thank you very much for your time and advice!

The best hybrids are made by Toyota and you’re buying a brand new one. I say..

Thanks for the reply! I'd be getting a solid deal on my car as well with how the used car market is. Unfortunately because of how difficult it is to find new cars I will probably have to settle for a slightly used one, about 7-8k miles

7-8000 miles is practically nothing.. Just make sure to have it thoroughly checked (before purchase) by a specialist mechanic who has experience with Toyota hybrids..

I most definitely will. I hope they'll be good enough (CPO certified) since I have very limited options in the area as well.

Buy one that just came out of lease and save some money.

I wish I had that option. Very limited supply in my area 🙁

That's an interesting idea I never heard of. Hopefully the previous owner at least took care of the car during the lease.

Yes they are good vehicles.

You say you plan to keep for at least 15 years.  How much mileage do you plan to put on it?  If you plan to keep the vehicle past 150,000-200,000 miles I would avoid the hybrid as you would be spending lots of $$$ on replacing batteries and other parts associated with the hybrid system.  Finding a competent mechanic to work on it will also be a challenge.

”Pay me now or pay me later.”

You are most definitely right and that's a big thing to weigh in and think about. Thank you for your time in helping me out 😊. I am hoping the newer batteries are much better than the older models, but ultimately you can't change the physics of a battery. Thank you once again sir
