Hello Scotty,
I have a 2005 Scion Xa. Recently, it shut off out of nowhere while I was driving. It will cut on, but I will hear some sort of rattling noise or squealing noise as if something is loose under the hood. I know it isn’t the starter because the car turns over. My car also shakes when idle and when the A/C is on; however, it sort of stops when the A/C is off. Do you know if it’s the alternator or engine belt? I don’t want to spend unnecessary money.
Also, the engine light and battery light came on after I cut the car back on when it shut off.

sounds like you have a failed AC compressor
