Hey Scotty, are you not surprised that my dad's red 2020 volvo S60 had bad CV joints and the car did not make it even close to 100,000 miles it is got like almost 50,000 miles on the odometer. My mom was telling me that oil was leaking in the car. I keep telling my dad this "Why can't he just get a car that anyone can work on? Right? He just won't listen to me and I always listen that you know how much they charge at the dealer and they are doing a oil change and also changing the spark plugs. If I were him I'll buy a car that any mechanic can work on like a Honda civic or a Toyota corolla. These are just examples.
Unfortunately Volvo is not what it was back when they were building cars like the "brick" 240 and 740 series which were very strongly built and durable. Those days may have been what your father was thinking about. However that has not been the case for decades now. (In fact Volvo is a Chinese company now.)
Of course I have been telling my dad that he is not driving an actual volvo he is driving a Chinese car.
