Hello Scotty and Friends, I'd like to get rid of my '09 535i xDrive BMW wagon w/ 170k miles. I'm in my mid 20's and I make 50k living in the city and so it's very difficult to afford this endless money pit! The car was a gift, but it has now turned into a crutch. The air suspension is kaput and I'm concerned about the next issue that's lingering on the horizon. Long story short, I'm wondering how much I can get for this and what I type of car I should look for next! (between you and I, I'll take 1.5K, but want more obviously) Making 50k, I'm not broke; I could probably afford a $5,000 used car outright. What are options I can afford in this market that offer both durability and some level of female attention? (If they made a manual miata with a bit more space I'd find that most ideal!)
Well good luck. Nobody wants to buy those BMWs but you can advertise it. You never know some crazy fool might offer you something for it. But if the air suspension is all broken and everything and it rides like crab your best to advertise it. One of those BMW online sites where guys are looking for car they want to rebuild. You want a reliable car. Get a Toyota Corolla or a Toyota Camry
Thanks Scotty! Big fan of your content - I often share with my friends and family! I shoulda figured you'd point me toward a Toyota. They really did make some of the most durable cars for a number of years. My buddy still has his '99 Corolla with almost 300k miles and it always gets him where he needs to go. Gonna get me one of them engine valve gauges and get to work finding the right one. Being from Michigan we love our domestics, but they just don't have that durability of the Japanese cars nor the visual appeal that they had way before the Japanese cars came to the market. Anyways that BMW has got to go!
Most females don't pay attention to what you're driving the main thing is you should have a good personality
For affordability and reliability Civic or Corolla
I would post it on OfferUp Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist
And if they care about what you are driving, run away!

Hahaha y'all are too real. Thanks for helping me keep my priorities straight.
This is a crazy option. And I really don’t know if it is more economically viable to do it. Something worth calculating.
Part it out.
Someone enthusiast out there ugh the looking for an inline 6 BMW engine. And all of the little bits and pieces to your car.
Or heck. Someone out there may be looking for a parts car. And the 5 series may fit the bill.
