At 205 to seal timing chain driven water pump?

So I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima with 166k miles. So there is a coolant leak on the front right of the engine on the passenger side, which indicates likely the water pump is leaking. I believe the water pump is still good just that the seal is leaking. Will AT 205 seal a water pump seal? Any other sealer anyone can recommend?

Just do the right thing and replace the pump.

Yes you're right replacing the pump is the right thing to do in this case. However, it's driving by the timing chain, which means it's hard to do and it's a very tight space. If I take it to a mechanic it can be many hundreds of dollars. Just want to see if there's something I can do to make it last a bit longer before I junk the car.

How much is it leaking?

AT205 is for oils, and not intended for cooling systems so no, don't use it.

There are coolant stop leak products. If you don't plan to keep your vehicle long then it's worth a shot but don't expect much.

The swine engineers at Nissan should be kicked in the groin repeatedly for this design. That said, I was able to replace the water pump on my 2000 Maxima myself. Took me longer than I care to admit, but now I think I could do it in about 5 hours. There is a pretty good Youtube video that walks you through it, mostly. Total cost is less than a hundred bucks. And you will get lots of practice on your cuss words.
