[Solved] How do I change my ATF

2009 Toyota Highlander with 140K miles, no problems. Recently purchased and I have no idea if transmission was drain and filled as recommended. I don't think so because fluid is purple/brown, but it shifts fine. I don't have the tools( jack, stands, etc) to complete a true drain and fill, but a buddy of mine suggested 'get one of those dual action pumps and pull out a quart and then replace with a quart through the dipstick'. That sounds brilliant to me, but is this a fair way to perform the service? Or is the mileage too high to even do it? Thank you!

is this a fair way to perform the service?

it's a half-ass way. Do it properly.

Ok, I gotcha. So at this mileage it's not too late to do a drain and fill the proper way?

All your questions are answered in the FAQ. Keep the old fluid just in case

yup, will do. thank you sir.

Hey, just wanted to say I did it the right way and it all worked out perfectly! feels and shifts smoother, or maybe just in my head, lol. Thank you.

Good stuff. I'm glad it worked out.
