Hey I'm having some major problem with my AUDI A4 B8K2 2TDi CAGA 140HP/105KW ,bought it second hand, came winter in Lithuania and as soon as ambient temperature dropped below -5°c I noticed that my cars engine doesn't want to heat up properly. After that I changed both thermostats one for engine which opens on 82c sec thermostat for EGR which open on 75c but i need drive to more aggressive to reach 90c when driving calmly drops to 80c on dashbord or i put wrong engine termostat 82c? i am thinking of putting an engine thermostat that opens from 87c maybe it that help's thanks for the answers and happy Christmas
You need to find out from manufacturers specifications what the correct temperature thermostat(s) your engine requires. Until you know this, you are just guessing. Also, whenever you change out a thermostat, you have to refill the cooling system to some extent and then, purge all the air from the system properly. If not, you'll get hot and cold spots and wonky temperature gauge readings. Please indicate what year this car is. Most listings how 92 degrees centigrade as the correct thermostat temperature.
