Scotty, I just bought the Autel MaxiCOM MK808BT for $560 on Amazon and I can't use all the features on my families Chrysler products, the ABS which is what I need for my wife's 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, cause it says I need the Chrysler CCD conector (Chrysler Collision Detection). Should I send this junk back to Amazon? I also have a 2008 Ford Ranger will this thing even work on it? Help!

First off, some time ago I got an e-mail from Autel North America on their authorized scan tool list (I just asked about tablet-style tools).  Here is what they said:  (Quote)

“The list of authorized diagnostic tablets [in North America] is short.

MX808
MX808TS
TS608
MS906BT
MS906TS
MS908 (includes the P, S, and S Pro)
Elite
MS909
MS919
Ultra
IM508
IM608

Anything that is MP or MK is not a US tool.  Also the above tools sold by unAuthorized US dealers will NOT receive warranty or support from Autel US. They will also not be able to bypass the security gateway in 2018+ Chrylser vehicles.“

So your tool is not a North American tool and you bought from an unauthorized party (Amazon is NOT an authorized Autel dealer), so unless you want to deal with the seller (who knows who they are and where they are located) you are really out of luck.  If it were me, I would return that tool back to Amazon and get a North American version above from an authorized dealer.

Whenever you buy an expensive scan tool, it is recommend to buy from one of the company’s authorized dealers if you care about support, service, warranty, software updates, and to make sure you don’t get scammed.  Some of those expensive ones from Amazon and other non-authorized sites are not North American models and if you need to have it serviced you may have to send it overseas and sometimes on your dime.  In a few cases - you may get no response from the seller.  Another thing, too, if you buy a North American version from an authorized Autel dealer and the warranty expires you can always renew it later which will provide software updates as well as cover you for any hardware issues.  With a non-North American unit from a non-authorized dealer you are essentially out of luck.

For the list of authorized dealers, see below (I recommend buying from http://www.aeswave.com; I’ve worked with them and they are very good.)

That being said, for your issue, I recommend you contact Autel North America as well as one of their authorized Autel dealers (www.aeswave.com) and ask them about the CCD issue you encountered - see which of their North American tools closest to your price point will do what you want it to do.  The Autel North America email is support@autel.com.  For aeswave.com, their e-mail is support@aeswave.com  aeswave.com usually responds quick.  You can also call them up as well (visit their websites for contact.)

The closest tool to the one you have now is probably the MaxiCheck MX808.  (you may want to ask Autel North America as well as aeswave.com about if that tool will do want you want.  It is $400 from aeswave.com but it is a tethered unit whereas yours is wireless.)

To see if the Autel tool will support your Ford Ranger click here on Autel’s website:

@DayWalker UPDATE!!! Sent that junk back to Amazon today. Ordered a MX808 with MSOBD2 kit so I can scan older vehicles and it was cheaper!! By like 60 bucks!

@Larryjones where did you order the MX808 from? I hope that one does everything you want it to and more.

Mechanixgear.com the only reason I didn't go with aeswave they didn't have the chrysler-16 adapter but I ask questions and I made sure they're a authorized dealer

@Larryjones I did not see their name listed here on the authorized dealer list:

Well I hope I wasn't lied to again 🙃

@Daywalker I got my fancy scan tool now I need help reading what its telling me can you help me?

@Larryjones Yes sir. I will do my best.

@DayWalker you have facebook messager or somewhere i can send you screen shots?

@Larryjones can you create a new thread with the scan tool questions? One of us here will be able to answer it.

Thanks so much for all that info. I got it yesterday (Friday March 19) and I used it on my mother-in-laws 1997 Jeep Wrangler and with the info it had I got it fixed I think. But my wife's Dodge Grand Caravan ABS, no luck. I've already marked this sucker for return so its going on a UPS truck Monday.
