I have a 2014 Mazda 3 with 97.5k miles and am wondering if it's safe to get a transmission fluid drain and fill if it hasn't been done before. Even though it's a "lifetime fluid", fluids still deteriorate. Or should I leave it alone since it still shifts great?

Perfectly safe to change it and you should. NEVER flush!

Perfect time to change it out. No fluid is lifetime, regardless of what marketing is put behind it.
