My brother has 10k to buy a car. He favors sedans. Which car should he get?

@wagon15
If he can find a 2015+ Mazda 6 those are good car's they aren't as reliable as Toyota's but are still reliable. They are fun and practical cars almost luxury large car in the inteiror.

Camry or accord. try to get years after 2012 for accord and after 2011 for camry

Depends on what he prefers, If he likes smooth driving, get the Camry, if he likes to have a sportier drive, get the Civic. The Accords with automatic transmissions are not the best.

Depends on what he wants from it. Does he want fast? Reliable? Is he going to modify it? Daily driver?

I'll refrain from answering without having more information, but I will say there are good suggestions being put out here with the Accord, Civic and Camry.

Accord, but depends on intended use.

The best choices would be Honda Civics, Toyota Camrys, Toyota Corollas, Honda Accords, and Ford Fusions (non eco boost).He may have to save up a little more for some of these though. The Civics made before 2014 are excellent vehicles and you can easily find good deals on them if you look at the base models. For 2014 or 2015 Civics, I’d only get one with a manual transmission but in order to get one with a manual transmission, you can only get a base model or the overpriced Civic SI which will definitely be above the $10k budget. All of the 2016+ Civics will be way over the budget so I won’t get into those. The 2007-2011 Camrys burn oil on their 2.4 liter engines but if you do oil changes or fill up the oil regularly, they can still run for a very long time that way. The 2012 and up camrys might be a little bit over that $10k budget. For accords, anything newer than 2010 and before 2018 is excellent but then again, might be over the $10k budget. The 2012+ Ford Fusions without the eco boost are also great vehicles as long as he changes the oil regularly and doesn’t drive like an absolute maniac. The fusions aren’t as reliable as the Toyotas and Hondas but they are fairly close. They just can’t take the same abuse that a Honda or Toyota can. You’ll find a used Fusion for a bit cheaper than a Honda or Toyota though. I was looking at cars at Carmax and the 2018 Fusions were still like $2,500 cheaper than the 2016 Civics. Now the Toyota Corolla is the most reliable out of all of those but they are very slow, and the ride quality and handling are garbage. A Civic is more worth the money but if he doesn’t care how horrible the ride quality is or how slow it is, and only cares about reliability and that’s it, get a Corolla.
