Hi, Scotty Kilmer! I love your videos. I just turned 17 and am ready to buy my very first car. My budget goes up to $8000 and I want something very reliable, kind of sporty, and of good value. Which of the following choices are the best?
1) 2012-2014 camry se
2) Mazda 3 ( are they reliable?)
3) 2013- 2015 civic
4) Toyota corolla
5) Honda fit
Thanks, again!
I am leaning towards the mazda 3, but am unsure of the reliability of mazdas.
Clarification: Which model year Mazda 3?
Between those get the Civic with manual transmission.
My parents are against the manual transmission, but thanks for the quick reply!
If this is the case, get a Corolla.
I agree with yaser, if you need an automatic, go with Toyota. The Corolla or the Camry. But don't trust anyone. Always have a trusted mechanic check it out first.
Corolla or Camry. Avoid the Mazda.
does the 2012-14 camry have problems with the transmission because I have heard that?
I would go with Honda Civic with manual > Toyota Corolla with automatic, in that order.
The 2013+ newer Mazda 3’s (2.5L naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G I4 with 6-speed Skyactic-Drive automatic) are reliable but might be above your budget.
I would avoid the 2012-2014 Toyota Camry’s due to potential transmission headaches down the line. 2015-2017 would be better, but may be above your budget.
i looked up manual civics and manual corollas and saw a 13 corolla s with 150k manual for 7k. Are the manual corollas worse than the civics cause the civics are so pricey.
@andrew-p the 5-speed manual Corolla for that generation (model years 2012-2018) was fine. If you can get a manual Corolla that’s a good choice. Stay away from CVT transmissions.
do you think i would stall the engine ever because manuals are hard to shift
@andrew-p you will have to learn to drive a manual first, but once you do you will get the hang of it. It’s worth it, because manuals will usually outlast automatics.
