Best Generation of Camry

I want to know what you, Scotty, think the best generation of the Toyota Camry is/was.

I may be biased but I believe the 5th gen that ran from 2002-2006 was the best built as far as quality of parts, interior materials, comfort, longevity, and driving it. No annoying electronics, screens, drivers aids you don't need, and all those other gimmicks. It seems the quality across the board went down starting with the 2007 not just limited to the Camry.

I would also say the 4th generation is 2nd place, mostly because of how legendary they have become as far as running insane mileage on just basic maintenance. They, obviously being older than the 5th gen, have a basic design where you get in and go. No fiddling around with screens and all that junk.

What do you think is the best generation Camry and why?

Love your videos and I hope you and your family have a great holiday season. Thank you again.

In my opinion, if I were to get a first car in 2020, I would get a 2006 Camry XLE V6. The 2002-2006 age so well has very good quality and reliability. Very good car. The thing is that 1997-2001 was designed by Lexus and A CAMRY was seen as a luxury car competing with Audi and Mercedes in other countries, produced in limited amounts due to the shear engine and overall size of it. The best was by far the 1997-2001, especially the V6. The most relevant when it comes to today's context and quality standards would be the 05-06. 07-11 was hands down the worst. I had a 1997 Corolla very good quality inside all the materials had character and was not cheaply made like the 09 10 ones.

Scotty likes the Toyotas around 96 98 etc. as he always puts a picture of those when talking about "older" ones. Plus, Toyota did not have many issues until the early 2000's, where both the 2002 Camry and 2002 Corolla started having engine issues, resolved in 2004.

I agree regarding 5th gen. However, I would say 2004-2006 are better than 2002-2003 due to issues which were resolved later in the generation.

5th generation especially last 3 years 2004-2006. Early 5th gen (2002-2003) had more issues.

1997-1998, or 2004;2006 should be the most quality and reliable. The XV30 gen was pretty good but the 2002 and 2005 which were first year body styles did have problems. Same goes with the 03 gen Corolla.
