Hey Scotty!

I've been watching your videos and tuned into your YouTube channel.

What do you think is the best starter car or used car to practice driving manual transmission?

All the best,

Bryan

What price range are you considering? Overall, Honda makes really good manual transmissions. The clutches are usually pretty light and they engage right in the middle so they are very beginner friendly. I would suggest a 2012-2015 Honda Civic Si. They very reliable and still fun to drive everyday.

Thanks for the recommendation. Was looking for a used Honda but of course have a mechanic look at it first. 🙂

Best cars for manual transmission driving (or learning) are: Mazdas, Hondas, Subarus, Porsches, BMWs. The very best are rear wheel drivers: … Miatas, S200s, Subarus, BMW 3 series, Porsches, Ferraris, er, … front wheel drivers: … Civics, Accura TSXs, Mazda3s, … but I’m rambling, sorry.

Anyway, … just find a Miata, … a good one! Have it confirmed to be good by an independent mechanic. Bargain hard, pay for it, … and by the time you get home driving it, you most likely will be able to drive it with confidence already! It’s actually that easy, … [Hint: … watch Scotty’s vid, … teaching manual driving in a newest Miata, first!]

No trouble. Hondas have great manuals, precise linkages, very good clutches working all together. No problem learning, no problem enjoying it. Civics especially. Fits, too!
Best,
