Hi Scotty and everyone!
There is a 2011 Toyota Corolla 1.8L.
160000km on clock. Yes, in km.
Under the hood I can see lots of black grease everywhere in it’s engine bay, all around, but the engine is shinny like new. I checked the car there is no oil/fluid leak. The engine starts right up and sounds just like new car.
Checked there is no err code according to my scanning tool.
I am curious if this car’s engine blew out in the past and someone has put a new one on it. BTW I don’t see any serious accident record on car fax on this car.
I am confused, are any other Corollas at this age have similar situations? The black grease sprayed very evenly and better than some nasty paint job.
Thanks in advance!
Sometimes, 1 picture can speak a thousand words..
Long shot. Check to see if the CV boots are torn. Or have been replaced recently.
I saw some black grease at the bottom of my engine bay. The CV boot had a huge tear and the grease got out. I thought it was an oil leak I totally, but it was more greasy looking than oil looking.
It is unlikely on yours, because it would be hard for grease to travel upward. At the the same time, it doesn’t take too long to check. The key word was black grease that makes this a slight possibility.
unless of course you know what CV grease looks like, then you’d probably know off the bat.
