Hello.
I have a 2015 Volvo s60 with a diesel D2 1.6 engine with automatic transmission. It has 80000 k/m's of mileage. I noticed black smoke when accelerating and revving up the engine but no check engine sign light ever light on ... For one year i was using what it turned out to be poor quality diesel 😔. I tried 2-3 times in a row to use diesel treatment but to no significant improvement. I took it to the mechanic and the computer showed that there was some malfunction in three diesel injectors. I rebuilt the injectors and new injector codes were given and programmed. Air filter, fuel filter replaced and turbocharger and compression readings are normal all the intake hoses etc checked for any damages or holes and are tightly installed as they should... i assumed that the car needs some highway driving so i added also a dpf cleaner and drove the car for 900 km on highway since it is mainly used in city driving to clear things up but problem still persists...This is driving me nuts... Can you suggest any other reason or possible malfunction that may cause black smoke when accelerating and revving up?
Well no more Uno. I would do a compression test of the engine to see if the engine is just worn internally. That will cause black smoke. If not that you have some type of injector problem and those are relatively complex systems that you really have to see an excellent diesel mechanic to do any further analysis
