Do you think BMW has lost their mind when it comes to its car designs, especially with the new 4 series, M3, new 2 series, and some of its concepts like the XM? They were nothing like BMWs from the late 90s to early 2000s design-wise.
Car manufacturers will try anything, design wise, if they think it will make them more money.
BMW isn’t losing their mind, but they are losing their identity. Before, when I saw a BMW, I knew it was a BMW. These days, if it wasn’t for the crazy kidney grille, it is getting harder and harder to tell. There seems to be a convergence in cars design these days.

Not only BMW, I guess all auto industry has gone crazy. Lot of technology but unfortunately not reliable on long run.
not really talking about tech and reliability, more like the designs in general on the exterior.
In regards to the current 4 series, I think the 8th and 9th generation Accord Coupe look more like a BMW than the current 4 series.
As long as people are dumb enough to buy them, they will still make them.
Each manufacturer adds flashy geegaws to new cars to sell more than the other guy. Doesn't matter if they are needed or even work.
Otherwise you wouldn't see people on this site with brand new vehicles that are already falling apart.
