Brake fluid & Coolant change interval

Hey Scotty love the videos I’m from Brampton, Ontario.

I got a 2012 Honda Civic 1.8L automatic with 143,000 KM. How often should I change the brake fluid and coolant? The owner’s manual doesn’t say. What other basic maintenance would you recommend and how often should I get them done?

Japanese manus seem to be bad about posting important info in the manuals.

If you take a look at a jug of new coolant, it should mention the lifetime. Modern stuff is usually around 5 years/100,000 km so you're overdue.

brake fluid kind of varies depending on conditions. You will notice brake performance degrade when it gets bad. It also turns dark and discolored. My manual says to replace the DOT3 fluid after 240,000km.

From the Haynes manual for the 2012 Civic -

You may also want to look at the other recommended jobs for your vehicle’s present mileage.

All the best!

The owners manual has to say somewhere the maintenance intervals for services.  Generally those are both 2 year services.. if a blue long life coolant some manufacturers put that coolant at 60k miles
