Broken Lower Control Arm on a Nissan Frontier 2004 with 100,00 miles

My son owns a 2004 Nissan Frontier 100,000 miles. The other day while backing out of a Home Depot Parking space, the right side lower Control arm broke. The knuckle ripped away from the control arm.

Later that day, my son about an issue this particular Nissan Frontier had with the lower control arm breaking as his did. Do you know of any issues like this with the Nissan Frontier 2004 and what kind of cost will be looking at Approximately to fix it? The dealer said the Upper Control arm is fine. Their estimate to fix it is 1500.00

Thanks for any advice you have on this matter and I really enjoy your videos.

Sincerely

Joe Mays for my son Kyle Mays

  1. The only thing slightly common is the balljoint can become loose and if left unchecked can separate causing problems. That price I would have to assume is to replace both front lower control arms because they’re generally serviced in pairs and with the age they may be factoring in cutting out the control arm bolts which tend to seize when they age and an alignment I would think but they’re really no common control arm concerns on those

Seems high to me. Get a 2nd quote from an independent mechanic.
