Okay community happy New Year first of all right here's the problem I have a friend that has a Buick LaCrosse that has always been taken to the dealership and quote on quote worked on but yet the check engine light has been on for over a year they had erased the codes and sent the customer home with a car with umpteen problems and still charged her and upwards of five grand now fast forward to today 2023 January 2nd and I took it upon myself to plug in my ob2 scanner to it it's a very simple primitive Anova 5110 scanner and I'll be damned if there's 16 codes that this poor little Buick is throwing and as I scroll through them one by one I noticed a pattern they all seem to be repeating themselves p0017 p0021 p0700 p1358 p1682 p2534, the rest were all a combination of duplicates of the previously mentioned codes so here's my question what all do I need to do to this poor person's car to get it running right aside from cutting it in half as always I appreciate the assistamce and advice the Forum kicks back every time, and respect the Creator of said forum for being himself and always being a straightforward knowledgeable mechanic. Scotty Rules!

please provide all the details requested in the instructions. Thanks.

Just googling those codes, they seem to be all over the place, from the crankshaft, to the transmission, to the ignition.

They could indeed be independent problems.  But Sometimes they could be interrelated problems. Where one problem causes a cascade affect. And finding the source of the problem will fix all the codes.

What year is the car, and how old is it? How many miles?

Any chance you know what the dealership did prior?

I believe the expression is "quote-unquote"  referring to the opening and closing quotation marks.

there's 16 codes that this poor little Buick is throwing

the site obd-codes.com provides pretty good troubleshooting steps for finding the causes.

You'll just have to work through the faults one-by-one.

I would start with the charging system though in case it's making everything glitchy. Load test battery + alternator. Check all fuses, relays etc.

Or you could just ...

Voice text heard quote on quote. I did t catch it bc I was trying to relay all pertinent information. I stand corrected.

voice to text... the bane of online forums

Your friend needs to stay away from the stealership and find a good local mechanic who is actually capable of doing proper diagnostics.
