200$ Used 2001 Honda Civic Aerodeck 2.0 TDI as a daily driver?

Hi there!

I just wanted to ask if it's a good idea to buy an 2001 Honda Civic Aerodeck 2.0 TDI (101 horsepower) combi with 160,000 miles for 200 bucks from a private party, expecting it to use it as an daily driver after some maintenance? What should I be worried about ?

It has a broken windscreen and rust on the back and the dampers will have to get changed, the owner says. The engine is running, steering and brakes work.

Is it a good idea to buy it as an daily driver to drive it another ten thousands of miles ?

I think the paint is a little faded on the picturese.

This is the first post I've seen with pictures well done!

Ok look I'm gonna give it to you s8 here. 200$ is nothing. If it runs and drives fine just buy it and send it BUT the only bad things about cars like this are 1: if you have to spend more than 200$ repairing the car you might as well buy something else and then you wasted 200$ If you buy it. IF you can get a mechanic that you trust(scotty tell everyone to do this) to check it first and they say it doesn't need any major repairs drive it till the wheels fall off you only paid 200$ after all. I mean I won't even be mad if you said you were gonna enter a demolition derby in a 200$ car and to be honest for 200$ you could a LOT worse. Those pics!!! I'm so glad you included them. This looks like a really nice 200$ honda. The only other thing is just be sure the car is safe to drive you don't want some 200$ special to be the reason your having spine surgery or something. So be safe but my vote it looks nice send it.

On top of what Jacksonishere said, I think you can not buy a $200 car and use it as a daily driving.
