Looking at buying a nissan 370Z, was looking online and honestly I don't trust many companies. Was wondering if going to CarFax is worth buying from. I was looking on a $400 or something close to that on monthly payment as well.

Carmax will rip you off with the highest prices in the used car industry. Also loan shark interest rates if you finance through them.

@chucktobias dang I wanted to check that out since I wouldn't want to go to carvana or drivetime. Dealership are mostly the same over priced or a bad car. Didn't know where to look honestly

Also the trouble with a car like that is that it could likely be beaten half to death or been subjected to questionable modifications by previous owners. Be sure to have any car you're serious about examined by a good mechanic BEFORE purchase.

You could always check out Carmax for yourself but be forewarned about their high prices - and they don't negotiate price. In the unlikely event you find something you do like there at a decent price it would be best to secure your own financing.

Also be aware that Carmax is in financial trouble (they lost over 120 million dollars in the last quarter):

Don't trust Carmax to give you a quality car. My wife's coworker sold a Mustang GT to Carmax and it had a leaking air conditioner. Right before he sold it, he bought refrigerant from Walmart and put it in with no manifold guages, etc. He just blindly added it with that fill to the green nonsense. He got top dollar for it, too.

@justin-shepherd That's a good point - Carmax is a favorite dumping ground for people with problem vehicles.

What's interesting is that Mustang was still pretty new when he sold it. It had under 36k miles on it, but the bumper-to-bumper warranty had expired. Only the powertrain warranty was still being honored.
