Hello Scotty and friends. I have a 2011 Silverado Crew Cab with 5.3 V8. 202,000 miles. The truck was a corporate exec's truck and most miles were highway miles. I put a reconditioned Jasper transmission in the truck about 5000 miles ago. It runs and rides and looks very good. But I do notice when I crank it for the first time after several days of sitting, I hear a slight tapping upon startup that goes away after a few seconds. I suspect the engine is allowing oil to fall away when left without driving and I am having dry starts. After that, it drives fine and no loud pinging. But I want to preserve the engine as long as possible
A friend suggested I add Lucas Oil Stabilizer with each oil change and said that would help keep the engine lubricated between cold starts. Do you agree that this is a good idea and worth the extra investment? Also, if you do recommend Lucas. should I add a whole bottle at each oil change? Thanks for your comments and advice.

No don't use that stuff. That stuff is for old car >1997 or something close. All you need to do is regular oil changes with quality old and do regular maintenance and it should last for ya.
