I'm interested in buying a used station wagon, and I found that the volvo 2000-2010 XC70 and V70 are the most attractive and safe as my trip to school has a lot of rough highway driving. So far I'm only seeing ones online with 150,000 miles or more. Looking at local dealerships as I see about 3 for sale not to far from where I live. Would these extensive repairs and have continuous money pit issues or would it be a good reliable first car?
Hey new member!
No, it would not be a reliable first car. And with that age and miles, a high $$ repair is likely to come sooner rather than later.
That said, that generation XC70 was one of Volvo’s better cars. Very appealing ride. And parts are not super expensive, at least for a European car.
If you’re interested in an XC70, first find a reputable Swedish car shop in your area. Then try to find one with low miles that has spent most of its time in the South or California.
Buying a high milage Volvo is unwise. It will become a money pit.
Try finding a lower mileage one. I have a client with a 2016 T5 AWD that she bought with 37K miles 2.75 years ago in Jacksonville, FL as a CPO car. For reference, she lives in Miami. Try expanding your search area.
