Should I buy this used pickup

I am interested in buying a 2002 Tacoma, it has 230,582 miles which I think is a bit much. But I know that Toyota engines can handle more miles, the person selling it is asking for 5,500, I think it's too much for a car with a lot miles, along with having a meh looking body. I was thinking of offering the person like 4,000$.I just want to make sure the car will last me a couple of years. Let me know if you need more information on the car.

Thank you

Any 21-year-old vehicle is going to be a crap shoot. You'd best have a mechanic do a thorough pre-purchase inspection before tendering an offer.

Make sure the frame isn't rusted out

Even a Toyota over 20 years old with more than 200,000 miles will not necessarily be around in a few years from now

They can last but it is far from guaranteed

About 2 years ago I bought a 2001 Toyota Sequoia with 180 hundred thousand miles and unfortunately the engine seized before it even hit 200,000

Without a long list of proper maintenance history id pass on it.
