Hello!
I posted on here a week or two ago about a Lexus SC430 (turned out to be a scam), but now that I am looking at other cars I have stumbled upon the world of used drift cars. More specifically, I found someone selling a 2008 Lexus IS 250 for $7500. They have clearly used it for drifting (it's all over their profile) and have had to replace some parts according to some research I did.
What I wondered is, just how bad can a used drift car be? This isn't the only one I have found and they tend to be a bit cheaper. To me with essentially zero car knowledge it seems like a bad deal considering it was a drift car.
I'm not married to the idea of buying a Lexus, but I really can't get my mind off owning one.
Don't even consider it, regardless of mileage, make, or anything else.
Drift cars get beat on constantly, and usually by guys who wanna be Ken Block and think they know what they are doing but don't. Constant red lines, worn suspension and steering components, a tired engine. Once a drift car, always a drift car. Never think you can buy one and turn it back into a daily. Not unless you want to throw stupid money at it.
Ah okay, thanks for letting me know. I almost fell for it cause of the ridiculous price, but it makes sense why nobody has bought the car in 4 months. Finding a car nowadays is rough. Been searching for two months and can't get very far. Oh well, back to the drawing board I go.
No problem. Trust me, you're better off waiting for a good car than taking someone else's problems. Good luck!
Do yourself a favor and run away form these beat to crap cars.
I'm guessing you mean drift cars? If so, I had the same thought. The cheap price on it almost reeled me in though.
Beat to crap means drift cars. Glad you didn't get reeled in.
it has probably been driven at or near red-line a lot. The powertrain has been shock loaded, a lot. The suspension has been abused a lot.
Run far, far away!
I would pass on it. If it’s been drifted it’s seen stress on top of “who knows what” other abuses.
