Good day sir, and compliment of the season.
My Camry 2003 when cold, or let's say If I start the engine in the morning and instantly engage in drive, the car won't move but moves in reverse instantly. Before it moves in drive, I will have to force engage, when I press the turtle in drive, it raises without moving, keep pressing, and raises without moving after some time; it then moves.
What's the issue? Do I need to change the full gearbox or just some elements? Like Solenoid gear or Torque converter. Please advise me on what to do. Thank you

How many miles on the car? I would find a transmission shop for diagnosis.
We don't have those services here. It seems like an issue with the gearbox
So, find a good mechanic who works on these cars (Toyota in general) to check the car. That model Camry has some issues with the transmission. The same thing you are experiencing. So, a good mechanic should know what to do.

The only easy thing you can check is the fluid. See if there is sufficient transmission fluid and also check its condition. If the fluid is burnt and gritty due to inadequate maintenance chances are very good that you need a new transmission.
