I have a 2020 RAV4 LE AWD that I have been debating on trading in for a 2021 Camry SE Nightshade. I have a 70 mile round trip commute daily that is about 90% highway. Living in central Ohio the AWD is nice, but not a must have since I have never had a time where I thought it was absolutely necessary. My main questions are whether or not the Camry is a quieter ride, would it last longer being a FWD instead of AWD, would it be more planted on my commute (my RAV4 is easily swayed by the wind), and are there any general safety concerns I should have if I decide to switch from an SUV to a sedan?
I am an oddball in the US these days in that I would take a coupe/sedan over an SUV as my daily driver any day.
In the case of the RAV4 and the Camry, both are great driving appliances but I would say that the Camry will be by far the nicer driving vehicle. I just don't know if it is enough of a difference to justify the $$$ hit you are going to take by getting rid of a still quite new RAV4 for a Camry. Ultimately you will have to decide this.
Thanks for the input. The dealer gave me some numbers that put me within $1000 of total cost of loan (the 0% financing offer on the Camry helps out with that), which is the only reason I am seriously considering it. 99% of the time I am just driving to work to to get food. For any family driving we take our Silverado 3500.
Gotcha, in that case, test drive the Camry on your regular commute & take a call. Realise that the long term reliability is still unknown on a brand new car. But hey, it’s your money, be sure you’ll be happy with the Camry before you make the trade. All the best.
Going to take a big hit on the trade, tuff call. It might not be that much quieter due to the 18 inch wheels and lower profile tires. I may even consider a newer Camry because AWD is an option now.
