Hey everyone, I have a 2017 Miata with almost 60k miles and was wondering since I pretty much only drive highway mile usually about 60 mi a day doing about 75 80mph could I change my engine oil every 10,000 miles instead of 5..

Do you plan to keep the car a long time? Compare the cost of changing your oil versus the cost of rebuilding or replacing your engine down the road.

5000 max no matter what.  In the old days of mineral oil, 3000 miles was the acceptable standard but with today's fancy synthetic and synthetic blends, I would not go over 5000 miles without an oil, filter and pcv valve change.

You need to be checking the dipstick at least monthly. Once you see it starting get dirty then your car needs an oil/filter change. It's not so much the miles, but the condition of the oil as you use your car. Toyota says 10k between oil changes, but at 5k miles our '21 Corolla is ready for an oil change and it's driven 90% highway to/from work etc.

I will probably will not get agreed with but if you are driving just free way  miles at a constant speed I think you can.

First of all get into the habit of checking oil level once every two weeks (some owners manuals tell you to check it whenever you refuel the car to get people into the habit of doing so) and if the level is low add oil. Then yeah change it at most every 5000 miles, and if when you check the oil level you see the oil is dirty and dark then change it sooner (along with the filter). This is the cheapest maintenance you can do for a car to last so don't try to make the oil change intervals long.
