I've got a 2007 Honda civic ex with a broken ignition. I went to the scrapyard and found a used one for $20. (Honda quoted me $350 for a new one, and $500 to install it). So I installed it myself and found that the key works for accessories, but the car doesn't recognize it (the keys chip) and will not allow me to start the engine. Will I have to buy a brand new ignition for it to work?
I appreciate any feedback

It probably needs some electronic abracadabra done to it, or you need to the right key to match the cylinder.
