Can I trust “New old stock parts”

I have a 1990 base Ford Crown Victoria 5.0. I have owned it since 1993 and have an actual 47,500ish miles on it. Still looks like a new car. I’ve always had second and third+… vehicles, which kept the miles low. Recently drove it round trip from Dallas to Houston, no problems then. Due to the obvious issues with not being driven every day, it’s showing signs of needing a fuel pump in the near future. Hasn’t failed yet, but want to stay ahead of it. Have run B-12 and changed the filter. It has it’s original fuel pump currently. I don’t want the cheap Chinese made replacement part if I can avoid it. My question is, can I trust the pumps sold online which are “Motorcraft New Old Stock” fuel pumps? They’d be fairly old I imagine. Would there be any rubber or plastic components which have dried out?

Thank you,

Bryan

Before you buy parts online, walk in to your local auto parts store & check if they have the part in stock.

Even if the part that they have is old, you can touch & feel it & see what shape it’s in..

Beats getting a rude surprise in the mail.

If there are gaskets or seals to deal with, those may be user replaceable. As Scotty says, always try to go OEM on fuel pumps...  If you can track down the part number, google it heavily.  You may find one with that same specifications (size, electrical and pressure provided) is still available as a new part from Ford...  Chances are, it will be made in China or Mexico though... 🙂
