Can the $500 TOPDON tool (mentioned in your recent video) program car features like the seat belt alarm, the delay on dome lights turning off, and the open-door-with-key-in-the-ignition alarm?

No.

Thank you, MMJoe. I'm willing to spend the $500, but not thousands. I guess I can pay a mechanic to adjust the settings with his $5,000 tool and subscription. Heavy sigh...

Is the Autel OBD scanner Scotty usually uses in videos one that's priced in the $500 neighborhood, or more like $5,000?

Have you checked on Amazon?

Amazon has Autel scanners in the $500 range, then in the $3,500-$5,000 range, and they look about the same -- the same size. There used to be a big jump from 500 to 5,000, but now there are the $3,500+ ones. I don't see a model number in the videos, so my question is if Scotty's getting most of his analyses done with a $500 Autel scanner, and he pulls out the multi-thousand-dollar one only when it's really needed, or if he's almost always using a high-priced one?

He is using the Autel Maxicom model.   That tool is not intended for the North American market, and Autel does NOT have an Amazon store.  The cousin to that tool intended for the North American market is the MaxiCheck MX808.  Buyer beware for scammers and lack of support if you buy from an un-authorized dealer of Autel scan tools.  See link below (under scan tool FAQ) about Autel:

so my question is if Scotty's getting most of his analyses done with a $500 Autel scanner,

The Autel Maxicom in his video under $500 from unauthorized sources.  If you buy from an authorized dealer (for the MaxiCheck) it is under $400.

and he pulls out the multi-thousand-dollar one only when it's really needed, or if he's almost always using a high-priced one?

Scotty gets tons of scan tools (different companies and different models) and he tries all of them out.

Currently I'd want to program Toyota Sequoias ('01, '08) and Honda CR-Vs ('05, '12).  Future would be newer Toyotas & Hondas.

if Scotty's getting most of his analyses done with a $500 Autel scanner,

The Autel 808 that Daywalker mentioned is $530 at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/autel/autel-service-tablet/atu0/mx808

It seems like a very capable scanner.

https://www.auteltech.com/mk2/3223.jhtml

The description says "Read/clear codes for all available systems" so presumably it will do transmission, ABS and stuff like that.

Live data - that's an important feature.

It does not do TPMS, unless you upgrade to the "TS" model

I could not decipher from the product info if it had bidirectional functions, if you wanted to get into advanced troubleshooting, so you would have to ask Autel about that.

You could also look into Foxwell tools for budget friendly options. They seem to offer good value for the money.

Unless you operate a shop and work on lots of vehicles, you don't need to spend thousands of dollars.
