Can't find water leak in Toyota Auris (UK)

Hi Scotty

Great videos by the way!  I enjoy watching them!

I have a 2015 Toyota Auris 1.8 Hybrid Sports Touring with 95,000 miles on the clock in the UK (I think you have a version of this car in the US known as the Toyota iM or Toyota Corolla in Australia).

Great car but I can't pinpoint where a water leak is coming from. There's usually a little water on the front passenger footwell after heavy rain. I know this sounds like a windscreen/windshield drainage issue but I took off the cowling covers and the two drain holes seem to be clear...(unless I'm not seeing some of the drain holes?) I also checked the A/C drainage and that's clear too!

It's a mystery and very uncommon on this type of car I think. The windscreen is the original and has never been replaced so I don't think it's leaking from there. The car doesn't appear to have any bodywork repairs done to it either and the car is not that old!

Do you think I'm not looking at all the drain holes (are there hidden ones)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Mike

turn your fans on full, or use compressed air around the the doors, windows etc. Then douse the car in soapy water and watch for bubbling.

interesting, I'll have to give this a go..

Similar discussion is going on there:

Hope it helps.

Good luck!

thanks for the link! I'll join that discussion as it does appear to be a similar issue (though that's on the other side of the car)...

Does it have a sunroof?

no..

thanks. I plan to check the doors next - maybe it's leaking in from there... It's is wet under the glove box though so not sure if the door is the issue but worth a check!

If the glove box itself is wet, check the rubber beading around your front windshield. If you mean the floor below the glovebox, then yeah, could be the door beading.

Have you checked the drain for your air conditioner condensate? That's a big seasonal problem over here on the hot and humid side of the pond - I've heard it's been hot and humid over there these days.

Hi. I tried that but that's all clear...

I've taken some pictures from underneath the cowling and the black liner (I think its the firewall) which is damp and where the water seems to be seeping into the car from. Trying to see if I can upload the pictures here but not sure how?
