I am considering to buy a 2008 Toyota Crown with 3L V6 from a dealer. Not a hybrid. Its done 85000kms for about 6500USD.
Its a used import from Japan (Many JDM Spec cars are exported to NZ as second hand imports).
Will it be a good car?

Looks good, could not find anything on Carcomplaints for it.
The Toyota Avensis is very reliable but note that complaints outside of North America are very very uncommon on carcomplaints it is generally a US oriented sight. But it is a very reliable car similar to the Toyota Camry, Avalon, and Scion TC.
