What do you think about Car shows like the Grand Tour or Top Gear? Are they accurate?  Does anybody think they are staged like I do?

I own every season of Top Gear BBC with Clarkson, Hammond, and May and also all the Grand Tour episodes (they are not for sale yet on Amazon, but if you buy the Grand Tour video game on Xbox it includes all of the episodes). Are they staged? Of course! Do I care? Not at all!

I really enjoy the shows as I find them super entertaining. Even the wife watches them with me over, and over, and over. There seems to always be something new that I catch each time. And I do agree with their reviews as well. Much more honest and accurate than the US magazine tripe from Consumer Reports, Motor Trend, and the like that's dry and biased towards the manufacturers because they pay the bills.

Yeah, I totally agree. As of these 3 comments everyone agrees which is a good thing. I have watched all the seasons of the grand tour twice now. It is such a good show!

Agree 100%!

BTW just to let you know 4 seasons of Grand Tour are on Amazon included with Prime

Oh I know. I watch them all the time. 🙂

Of course they’re staged! Didn’t the grand tour make an episode specifically showing, what happens when they aren’t staged?

Remember, they’re for your entertainment primarily. I enjoy their satire!

Haha yeah I remember that episode. Thanks!

of course they are

I look at it like wrestling for gear heads. Lol. We know it is fake but it is still entertaining.

@mod_man

I used to watch it years ago. The day they stuck that awful "Friends" actor in, I knew it was over. The show is no longer watchable.

Ditto! Watched TGT exclusively, since the trio moved over.

even TGT is cringe

Of course it is, but when compared to the new top gear, I’ll take TGT any day.

Of course there is a large amount of planning and a lot of clearly staged parts, but the three naturally having fun is evident to be real and I like their energy. Another show with Richard Hammond was made and it was a lot more staged and couldn't enjoy it at all. Have watched every episode of The Grand Tour and their last special a couple months ago was amazing. I like the specials;) Jeremy says that it isn't staged, but a lot of it evidently is. Now that they are doing specials only, its more real world and less staged.
