Changing oil type and viscosity

Hi. I have 2013 Nissan Altima with about 90k miles on it. I recently found out that the dealer was using 20w50 oil in all oil changes claiming it works better in my hot climate.

I found out that the recommended oil in the owners manual is 0w20 full synthetic oil.

Can I start using 0w20 now? After almost 90k miles driven with 20w50 oil?

Thanks Scotty.

Dealer used 20W50 instead of 0W20? I would have an independent mechanic check the engine and have the dealer pay for any repair.

As @yaser said, have it independently checked for damages. The dealer should not be using anything except what the manufacturer recommends.

Another reason why never got to or trust a dealer.
