Hey uncle Scotty,
Our car's 166,000+kms, '97 Toyota Corona. Thinking of changing our transmission fluid. Don't know when it was replaced, so it might be just now. Is it safe to do it?
And what can I try to replace the fluid with?
Thanks!
It's not like an automatic. There's not any problems changing manual/standard transmission fluid. Look in your owners manual to see what the correct gear oil/fluid is called for your car or just go to Toyota parts department
Follow the specifications in the owner's manual.
When in doubt just call the Toyota dealer. And on Toyotas just like Hondas, pay the little extra and buy the fluid from the dealer.
Buying the transmission oil from a dealer is just plain dumb.
Really? Hmmm. I think I’ve heard Scotty say the same thing in certain instances. Can’t be but so dumb.
