Cheap, reliable convertible

Hi Scotty,

I'm graduating college soon and hoping to buy a cheap, reliable convertible to use as a weekend car and will hopefully last me a long time.  I'm not really a "car guy" for context.

As I'm sure you know, the used car market now is bonkers.  I'm hoping to spend roughly 5k, but I don't know if that's reasonable anymore (I don't mind some minor cosmetic damage).  I've narrowed my list down to a couple of choices after researching and watching your videos:

  • Nissan 350z
  • Mazda Miata
  • Toyota MR2 Spyder

First, can I hope to spend my budget on something along these lines?  And second, is there anything I should add to my list?  (Not a fan of the look of the Toyota Solara or Celica).  I definitely don't want a moneypit.

Thanks for reading Smile

I go for the Mazda Miata realize it's the only convertible roadster in the world that ever sold more than a million units.
