So driving my 2013 chevy camaro ls v6 on the highway and my check engine light flashed but didn't stay solid. I read it might be spark plugs or wires or both. But making sure it's not something more serious. I have been driving her alittle hard to if that helps.
Did you scan for any stored DTCs?
A flashing CEL is worse than a solid one. Flashing means you have something wrong that could potentially cause major damage to your engine and needs to be addressed immediately.
Well atm it's my daily driver until I get my second car so how dangerous is it to still drive until a check?
I wouldn't recommend driving it anywhere but to a mechanic.
It hasn't flashed but that once since I driven it tho.
Then I would keep an eye on it. Don't clear any codes as those really help with diagnosing the issue.
A check engine light (CEL) flashing (as opposed to being steady) is very serious and needs to be addressed right away. What codes are you getting?
It's possibly a misfire of some sort. (DTCs would be P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306). If it is a misfire, engine damage is quick to follow, and raw fuel in the chamber could ignite. At the very least, get a OBD2 reader on it, preferably with enhanced diagnostics, to see what codes emerge, and which sensors are reading as malfunctioning. Those are good initial clues.
You delay at your risk, and at the risk of your vehicle's future life. It might be a minor matter (a bad spark plug or coil pack, or even a loose connection), but delay might be costly.
Try getting it scanned and hope that it is just sparkplugs or the wires
If your check engine light is flashing it means you have a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately. Check for codes.
