HI 👋 I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon with 220,000 miles. When we first purchased the vehicle we had no idea that the transmission had almost no fluid remaining in it causing it to slip and not downshift. I had it filled up recently about a couple of months ago and has now been shifting great. They check engine light is on for the shift solenoid but from my understanding the shift solenoid is usually not the issue. Should I be worried the car runs totally fine and the light often goes away on its own but the comes back a few days later. My mother purchased this car on her own I personally would not of bought the car. Sorry for the long question 😬
You should take it to an autozone and have them hook up a obd2 sensor to it to exactly diagnose the problem.
