Chevy Caviler

Scotty what's your opinion on a Chevy Caviler? are there any year models i should avoid? my grandparents have owned a 2002 Caviler for close to 20 years with basic care however he did baby the car.

I owned a 2004 5 speed coupe and loved that car. Drove it every day for 14 years and put 189,000 miles on it. And with a 5 speed stick and that low to the ground.......you know I didn’t baby it. Got 1 ticket for 99 in a 70. Ooops! I did keep it served tho. Regret to this day trading it in on a new car. I’d buy another if I cud find a stick shift.

I would avoid them all. They are not well built and they are only getting older every day.

From what I can see they are all junk on craigslist even here in California people are giving them away for free because they are junk but if you have to the most complaints are from 2000-2005 so I would avoid those but the 90s ones are more than 20 years old so I would not pay more than 500 bucks for any Cavalier.

I saw that you can only afford a Cavalier? What is your price budget?

ok so if you abay the heck out of it like my grandparents did would it be decent?

I don't have any experience with it all I know is that the quality is not there it could be decent for a grocery car you use once or twice a week but as a daily driver no way.

Again what is your budget maybe I could give a suggestion?

$5k is my budget

I would not pay 1 grand for a Cavalier you could find a good Toyota or Honda for 5k can you give me your area so I could find some examples?

Orlando Florida, and do you have an explanation on how my grandpa bought a 2002 caviler new and drove it for 20 years still has it and still drives it?

out of all the listings i only saw 2 that i liked and i misspoke i have like 2k bucks for just the car

Do you like the Solara?
For under 2k it looks decent enough:

$2k will buy a bus pass until you get a better job.

the rpoblem with the solara is its nto boxy enough like the 90 cavalier

?

Honestly under 2k a cool daily driver would not be a smart idea I think you should look for a late 90s 4 door that looks good but not "cool." Otherwise, get the 80s car for a knock around car and use the bus for your primary transportation.

that works too but i cant find any like that

dud ei wish i liked it but its not boxy enough XD

If you're looking for a first (and only) car, stop looking at these old clunkers.

Get something as new and reliable as you can, so you can get around. After that you can start looking for hobby projects.

What about an old Volvo?

is there any model years that were good? its the only thing i can afford that i like

then you won't be able to afford to keep them on the road.

and if you're that hard up, then maybe you need to be less picky about what you "like"

if you want something reliable and cool under 2k as a DAILY DRIVER you will have a very tough time.

The Chevrolet Caviler did not even make a good rental car back in the day.

I would look for a nice Oldsmobile Alero if I was you

is a pontiac sunfire just as bad or better or what?

Sunfire is the same car with different hair + makeup

well both sides of my family have had them and they say that the interior would have random issues and the dash would randomly crack but mechanically speaking they were good cars what's your opinion about that?

I'm serious. For two months you've been posting clunker after clunker, and people keep telling you NO. We know what we're talking about. You have no experience and it doesn't sound like you're in a position to buy your dream car, but you won't take a hint, and you keep ignoring us.

So just buy whatever you "like". and after you deal with the consequences, come back and say I should have listened to you.

ok ok ok then is there any 1980's 2 door car that you would consider a good car? sorry if you're tired of me posting clunkers, GM cars are confusing because there either really bad or really amazing, and somehow my family had good luck with a Lot of "Clunkers"

*facepalm* {black}
Ford Pinto. 1972

oh no not that bad but i mean they had good luck with things like the dodge caravan.

the real problem is i like boxy 80s 2 door Cars

How about a 1980s-vintage Volvo 240 2-door (actually model 242)? Can't get much more boxy than that and they're built like tanks.

Get something new but with the same shape. There are plenty options out.
