Hi, I know 2019 Silverado's haven't really had a long time on the road to see if theirs been flaws, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with that run of them?

Reason being is my best friends wife is a GM at a dealership here and the owner has agreed to sell me a no miles, 2019 Silverado Z71 at wholesale price, because he still has dozens of them.. doesn't say great things about the trucks, I guess, but paying wholesale is pretty sweet. Id definitely prefer a Tundra/Tacoma or even an F150, but im considering rolling the dice.

Any info or opinions would be appreciated

If it has AFM or the 8-speed transmission don’t buy at any price. I have a 2015 with these things there is a class action lawsuit for the transmissions and the engines with the Active fuel management fail. This is where the engine goes from 8 to i 4 cylinders. Run away

The V8 motors had a recall for the valve springs failing. That would be enough for me not to buy it. But there are also a ton of other recalls.

I would run the VIN through the NHTSA website to see which ones apply to it. Buying for less is good, but you get exactly what you pay for.

2019 MY was the last year of that generation.  Which engine and transmission?  Also, what do you hope to get out of this vehicle?(i.e. long life and high mileage).  The 8-speeds were junk and the 5.3L and 6.2L Ecotec had active fuel management (AFM) or cylinder deactivation with potential for collapsed/failed lifters all to save a measly 1-2 mpg (and government fuel mandates).  I am not a fan of those engines (and 8-speed transmission).

There has to be a reason why the dealership has “dozens” of left over 2019 models to the point where would agree to sell one wholesale. Do your homework, find out true wholesale value is. Overall it might a false economy

Check out the FAQ topic (top of the main page), under vehicle buying. Good resources for research there.
