thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze Manual Transmission with 301,000 ORIGINAL MILES / ORIGINAL ENGINE. I say this proudly. I have taken excellent care of my car. Its been my computer for 6+ years commuting 165+ miles day. Oil changes and Radiator fluid always on check and maintenance regularly. Car RUNS perfectly fine, good idle, good power etc. I am having an issue right now with car overheating when idle, when I drive its fine but when I come to a complete stop, temp rises (digital thermometer) I just replaced the entire cooling system in Nov 2020, Fan, Radiator, Water pump, Thermostat and Sensors. My mechanic cannot figure out what's wrong. He said may be the head gasket but I have no signs of Head Gasket issue. My sister works at Autozone and she says could be my freeze plugs aka engine plugs. Do you have any idea where I should look? I can fix the issue if I can figure out what it is. She is still going strong I just need to get to the bottom of this.
BTW, purchase used with 7,000 miles back in 2012. I no longer have to commute but did commute from 2012-2019
Is it losing/leaking coolant?
Are the fans running when it overheats?
Has the radiator cap been changed?
No coolant leak. Fan runs but I will run the car tomorrow and make sure they kick on when temp rises to 240 degrees+ Radiator cap was changed. My mechanic changed all the parts, he’s smart but no Scotty Kilmer, I will ask him if he burped the system and will confirm although I would assume he did but will double check
If the freeze plugs were leaking, you'd see coolant on the floor. After you replaced all the hardware, did you properly burp the air out of the system?

Never assume anything, ever.
Yes, he burped the system. Car still driving fine but gets as hot as 243 degrees when idle. I don’t know what’s wrong, I’m so baffled.
Never assume new parts are good. You might want to test the new thermostat to see if it's opening at its rated temperature.
