[Solved] Chevy shake

Topic starter

2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali

6.2L with 8sp trans

43,000 miles

At 37,000 miles I started getting the Chevy Shake and immediately took it to the stealership because Chevy has a 5yr/60k power train warranty. They changed the trans fluid and it did stop the shake. I noticed backing out of my driveway then going in to drive from 1st to 2nd gear the truck shifts very hard. Took it back to the stealership and they checked torque converter and assured me it was good. They also said there was no metal or debris on the magnet. They “said” there was an “update” on the trans and that should fix it after about 1,000 miles. Well Scotty 5,000 miles later with an oil change still shifting extremely hard from 1st to 2nd. I’m in Knoxville if you’re close I’d like to swing by.

You stand by your guns with them but I go buy appointment during the week I can certainly check it out or make a very interesting video hun how they say something is normal that really isn't. Often I make videos for customers and then magically the dealers fix them free

How do I go about making an appointment? You can surely use my truck as an instructional video.

More than likely the trans needs to be replaced. Stand your ground and make sure they replace it under warranty. If they won't replace it go to another dealer and explain the situation. Sometimes they will stand up to make the right decision.

These 8 speeds are known to have issues with the computers and mechanically.

Probably a failed shift solenoid. That would be hard for a dealership to find because all they know is to sell new vehicles and upsell on routine services.

Take it to a transmission shop...they will be able tell if its a solenoid, valve, or software issue. The dealers warranty manager should be able to authorize a specialist to repair.
